Giants Part Ways With Daboll

Giants Part Ways With Daboll

After starting the season 2-8 and a string of losses when being up by 10 or more points entering the final quarter the Giants have fired Brian Daboll.

His first season with the team he went 9-7-1 with a playoff birth, also winning coach of the year honors. Since then results have declined and his overall record of 20-40-1 shows just that. The Giants are in a place of pivoting instead of rebuilding. Keeping GM Joe Schoen means he will be leading the search for the next coach, together they will try to turn this young talented team around.

The Giants head coach opening may be one of the best openings when the next season begins. The team is filled with young stars on both sides of the field such as rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, fellow rookie Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers. On the defensive side they have players such as Thibodeaux, Carter, and Burns.

Potential candidates to be the Giants next coach are current offensive coordinator and interim head coach Mike Kafka. He has seven games to prove that he can be the coach to do it, the belief is there as he has interviewed for eight head coaching jobs over the past three seasons.

Lou Anarumo is another name who has a past with the Giants. A former defensive back coach in 2018 who is now the defensive coordinator for one of the top units in the NFL with the Colts. He interviewed to be the head coach of the giants in 2022 but they went with Daboll.

The last coach who can be getting their first shot at being a head coach is Klint Kubiak the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. He has one of the brightest offensive minds in the game and it shows having the leagues leading receiver and a top ten overall offense.

The New York Giants have the foundation for success they now need to find the person who can lead them to it.
